Preparation
- 1
Start by cleaning the calamari if not already done. Rinse under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Cut into 1/2 inch rings and set aside.
Breading
- 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well until all dry ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- 3
Take the calamari rings and toss them in the flour mixture until they are well coated. Shake off any excess flour.
Frying
- 4
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 190°C (375°F).
- 5
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in small batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried calamari and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving
- 7
Once all the calamari is fried, transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
