Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Rub each steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Pan

If using a grill, preheat it to high heat. If using a skillet, heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until very hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the steaks on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them. Flip the steaks and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if desired.

  3. 5

    Add Butter and Rosemary (Optional)

In the last minute of cooking, add butter and rosemary to the skillet. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for added flavor.

Resting and Serving

  1. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  2. 7

    Serve

Slice against the grain and serve immediately. Optionally garnish with additional fresh rosemary.
