Method
For the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Unwrap the mozzarella cheese sticks and freeze them for at least 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape during frying.
- 2
- 3
Bread the Cheese Sticks
Take each frozen cheese stick, roll it in the flour, dip it in the beaten eggs, and then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat this process for all cheese sticks to create a double coating. (For extra crunch, you can repeat the egg and breadcrumb step once more.)
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, frying them for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown on all sides. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
For the Marinara Sauce

- 7
- 8
Simmer the Sauce
Allow the sauce to simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. If desired, add fresh basil towards the end of cooking for added flavor.
- 9
Serve
Serve the hot mozzarella sticks with the marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
