Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, black pepper, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the hanger steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight for maximum flavor.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Ensure it's hot before adding the steak.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Remove the hanger steak from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Place the steak on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if desired.

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 6

    Slice and Serve

Slice the hanger steak against the grain into thin strips. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
