Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Rinse the chicken breast under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Optionally, you can pound the chicken to an even thickness for uniform cooking.

Making the Teriyaki Sauce

  1. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger until fully combined.

  2. 3

    Thicken the Sauce

In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Add this mixture to the sauce while whisking continuously. This will help thicken the teriyaki sauce.

  3. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Pour the teriyaki sauce mixture into a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring it to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking the Chicken

  1. 5

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 6

    Cook the Chicken

Add the chicken breast to the hot pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

  3. 7

    Add Teriyaki Sauce

Once the chicken is fully cooked, pour the thickened teriyaki sauce over the chicken in the skillet. Let it cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the chicken to absorb the flavors.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Dish

Remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a serving plate. Drizzle any remaining teriyaki sauce from the skillet over the chicken. Serve hot with steamed rice or vegetables if desired.
