For the Brown Butter Seared Sea Scallops

Method

Preparation of Brown Butter Seared Sea Scallops

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Rinse the sea scallops under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Sear the Scallops

Add the scallops to the pan in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until a golden-brown crust forms. Remove the scallops and set aside.

  4. 4

    Make Brown Butter

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Swirl the pan until the butter melts and turns a nutty brown color, about 3-5 minutes.

  5. 5

    Finish the Dish

Return the scallops to the pan and drizzle with lemon juice. Cook for an additional minute to warm through. Serve immediately over the prepared sides.
