Method

Prepare the Tartar Sauce

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, dill pickles, capers, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

Make the Coleslaw

  1. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix shredded cabbage and carrots. In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Pour dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to coat. Chill until serving.

Prepare the Fries

  1. 3

    Cut and Fry

Cut the russet potatoes into thin fries. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until crispy and golden, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, then season with salt.

Prepare the Fish

  1. 4

    Batter the Haddock

In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cold sparkling water until smooth. Dip the haddock fillets into the batter, coating evenly.

  2. 5

    Fry the Fish

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the battered haddock into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-6 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Serve the fried haddock with crispy fries, house-made tartar sauce, and coleslaw on the side.
