Meatballs

Spaghetti

Tomato Sauce

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Onion and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Then, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings

Add the crushed canned tomatoes to the saucepan along with the fresh basil leaves, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.

  3. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

Spaghetti

  1. 7

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 3 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  2. 8

    Cook the Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

  3. 9

    Drain the Spaghetti

Once the spaghetti is cooked, drain it in a colander and set aside.

Assembly

  1. 10

    Combine and Serve

In a large serving bowl, combine the drained spaghetti with the tomato sauce. Gently toss to coat the spaghetti evenly. Top with the baked meatballs and serve hot.
