Beef Tenderloin

Method

Preparing the Beef

  1. 1

    Season the Beef

Rub the beef tenderloin with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh thyme, ensuring an even coating.

  2. 2

    Sear the Beef

Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the seasoned beef tenderloin in the skillet. Sear each side for about 4-5 minutes until a nice crust forms.

  3. 3

    Cook to Medium Rare

Continue cooking the beef until it reaches an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C) for medium rare. This usually takes about 15-20 minutes total, depending on thickness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Beef

Remove the beef from the heat and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  5. 5

    Slice the Beef

Using a sharp knife, slice the beef tenderloin thinly against the grain.

Assemble the Rolls

  1. 6

    Prepare the Rolls

While the beef is resting, slice the soft rolls in half.

  2. 7

    Add Condiments

Spread a layer of Dijon mustard and mayonnaise on each half of the rolls.

  3. 8

    Layer the Sliced Beef

Place a generous amount of the sliced beef tenderloin on the bottom half of each roll.

  4. 9

    Top with Vegetables

Add sliced red onions, sliced tomatoes, and a handful of mixed greens on top of the beef.

  5. 10

    Complete the Sandwich

Place the top half of the roll over the filled bottom half to complete the sandwich.
