Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the yeast is activated, add it to the flour mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your wood-fired oven to a temperature of around 700°F (370°C).

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 2-4 equal portions. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.

  3. 8

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Spread about 1/2 cup of tomato sauce onto each pizza base, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle with fresh mozzarella cheese.

  4. 9

    Add Fresh Basil

Tear fresh basil leaves and sprinkle them over the cheese.

  5. 10

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle olive oil over the top and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. 11

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully place the pizza in the wood-fired oven and bake for about 90 seconds to 2 minutes, rotating as needed for even cooking.

  7. 12

    Serve

Once the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly, remove the pizza from the oven. Let it cool for a minute, slice, and serve hot.
