Cake Base Preparation

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, cream the softened butter until smooth. Add the granulated sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cake
Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Beat Butter
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.

Add Sugar and Cream
Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined. Add the vanilla extract and heavy cream, then beat on high speed until light and fluffy.

Frost the Cake
Once the cake has completely cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top and sides of the cake.

Top the frosted cake with fresh cherries and sprinkle chocolate shavings on top for garnish.
