Method

Preparation of Meats

  1. 1

    Slice the Meats

Using a sharp knife, thinly slice the prosciutto di Parma, coppa, and mortadella. Arrange the slices on a serving platter in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

Fried Dough (Gnocco Fritto)

  1. 2

    Make the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, yeast, and salt. Gradually add the water and olive oil, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  2. 3

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

  3. 4

    Prepare for Frying

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to about 0.5 cm thick. Cut the dough into squares or rectangles.

  4. 5

    Fry the Dough

In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F). Fry the dough pieces in batches until golden brown and puffed up, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve

  1. 6

    Prepare the Melon

Cut the melon in half, remove the seeds, and slice it into wedges or balls using a melon baller.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Plate

On the serving platter with the meats, add the fried gnocco fritto and arrange the melon alongside. Serve immediately.
