Panna Cotta

Method

Panna Cotta Preparation

  1. 1

    Bloom the Gelatin

In a small bowl, combine the gelatin powder and water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to bloom.

  2. 2

    Heat the Cream Mixture

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.

  3. 3

    Add Gelatin and Vanilla

Remove the saucepan from heat. Add the bloomed gelatin and vanilla extract to the cream mixture. Stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

  4. 4

    Pour into Molds

Pour the mixture into individual serving cups or molds. Allow them to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.

Berry Compote Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook the Berries

In a small saucepan, combine the mixed berries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, until the berries break down and the mixture thickens slightly.

  2. 6

    Cool the Compote

Remove from heat and let the berry compote cool to room temperature. Once cooled, you can refrigerate it until ready to use.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Panna Cotta

Once the panna cotta is set, unmold it onto a serving plate and top with a generous spoonful of the berry compote before serving.
