Method
Dough Preparation
Mixing the Dough
In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Combine with flour, salt, and olive oil, and knead until smooth.
Rising
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Shaping the Dough
Once risen, punch down the dough, and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a 10-inch circle on a floured surface.
Assembling the Pizza
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
Adding Toppings
Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough, sprinkle mozzarella cheese, add pepperoni slices, and top with fresh basil.
Baking
Transfer the pizza to the oven (or onto the preheated pizza stone). Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
Finishing Touches
Remove from the oven and drizzle with olive oil. Let it cool slightly before slicing.
