Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Prime Rib
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Remove the prime rib from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking.
- 2
Season the Meat
In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme. Rub the mixture all over the prime rib, ensuring it is evenly coated. Drizzle olive oil over the meat and rub it in.
- 3
Roast the Prime Rib
Place the seasoned prime rib on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to develop a nice crust.
- 4
Lower the Oven Temperature
After 20 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting the prime rib until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, about 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the size of the roast.
- 5
Rest the Meat
Once the desired temperature is reached, remove the prime rib from the oven and cover it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing.
- 6
Serve
Slice the prime rib against the grain and serve with your choice of sides and sauces.
