House-Made Black Bean Burger

Freshly cut and double-cooked to order for the best flavor and crunch.

Double-Fried French Fries

Drain and rinse the black beans. In a mixing bowl, mash the beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

Prepare the Beans

Add the bread crumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and egg to the mashed beans. Mix until well combined.

Mix Ingredients

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

Form Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown.

Cook the Patties

Toast the burger buns if desired. Place a patty on each bun and top with lettuce, tomato slices, and avocado slices.

Assemble the Burger

Serve the black bean burgers immediately with your choice of condiments.

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into uniform sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

Cutting the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water. Soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

Soaking the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 325°F (163°C). Fry the potatoes in batches for about 3-4 minutes until they are soft but not browned. Remove and drain on paper towels.

First Fry

Let the fries cool for at least 30 minutes.

Cooling Period

Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C). Fry the cooled potatoes in batches for another 3-4 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
