Salad Shell
Salad Toppings
Method
Preparing the Salad Shell
- 1
Fry the Tortillas
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place one tortilla in the skillet and fry until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Remove and let drain on paper towels. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
- 2
Shape the Shells
While the tortillas are still warm, gently mold each tortilla into a bowl shape using a small bowl or a taco salad mold. Allow to cool completely, so they hold their shape.
Assembling the Salad
- 3
Layer the Ingredients
Once the salad shells are ready, start by adding a layer of shredded lettuce at the bottom of each shell.
- 4
Add the Toppings
Next, add a scoop of black beans, followed by a generous dollop of guacamole, a spoonful of sour cream, a handful of shredded cheddar cheese, and a good amount of pico de gallo on top.
