Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
- 2
Add Flour
Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from heat and add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- 3
Incorporate Eggs
Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes. Then, add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and shiny.
Coating Preparation
- 4
Mix Sugar and Cinnamon
In a shallow dish, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside for coating the churros later.
Frying
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of dough in; it should sizzle and rise to the top.
- 6
Pipe the Dough
Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe strips of dough into the oil, about 4-6 inches long. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- 7
Fry the Churros
Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
