Burrito Filling

Burrito Assembly

Method

Burrito Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Chicken or Beef

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. If using chicken, cook the chicken breasts for about 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked. If using beef, add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned.

  2. 2

    Add Aromatics

Once the chicken is cooked or beef is browned, add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.

  3. 3

    Season the Filling

Stir in the cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to blend. If using chicken, shred it into smaller pieces.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted and well combined.

Burrito Assembly

  1. 5

    Warm the Tortillas

In a separate skillet or microwave, warm the large flour tortillas to make them pliable.

  2. 6

    Fill the Tortillas

Place a generous amount of the chicken or beef filling in the center of each tortilla, followed by a handful of shredded lettuce.

  3. 7

    Roll the Burritos

Fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll it from the bottom to the top to secure the filling inside. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.

  4. 8

    Serve

Serve the burritos with a side of pico de gallo. You can slice the burritos in half for easier handling.
