Prepare the glass
Place the highball glass in the freezer for a few minutes to chill if desired. Remove and fill the glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes (about 1 cup).

Pour the Coke
Open the chilled Coca-Cola container and slowly pour 12 fl oz of Coca-Cola over the ice to minimize fizz and overflow. Pour along the side of the glass if you want less foam.

Garnish (optional)
If using, squeeze a lime wedge over the surface of the drink to add a hint of citrus, then drop the wedge into the glass. Optionally add a maraschino cherry on top or on a pick.

Serve
Stir gently once with a long-handled spoon or serve with a straw. Serve immediately while cold.
