Shrimp or Oysters

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Breading

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Soak the Seafood

Dip the shrimp or oysters into the buttermilk, ensuring they are well coated.

  3. 3

    Bread the Seafood

Remove the shrimp or oysters from the buttermilk and coat them in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Seafood

Carefully add the breaded shrimp or oysters to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Po'Boy

Slice the hoagie rolls and layer with fried shrimp or oysters, shredded lettuce, and tomato slices. Drizzle with spicy sriracha remoulade before serving.
