1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes or filling it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Tanqueray No. Ten gin, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz fresh grapefruit juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup.

3

Add ice and shake

Add 6 pieces of ice to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 10–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is frosty and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Prepare serving glass

If you chilled the glass with ice water, discard the ice water and dry the glass. If using frozen glass, remove from freezer.

5

Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass over fresh ice (about 1 cup) if you prefer it on the rocks, or strain without ice for a neat coupe presentation.

6

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a thin grapefruit wheel or a grapefruit twist expressed over the surface to release oils. Serve immediately.
