Method
Cocktail
Chill glass (optional)
Place a coupe or rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it, then discard the ice water immediately before straining.
Combine ingredients
Add 2 oz Tanqueray London Dry Gin, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake
Add 5 ice cubes to the shaker, cap, and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and you have good dilution and a light froth from the citrus.
Prepare glass (optional rinse)
If using bitters, add 2 dashes to the chilled glass and swirl to coat the interior, then discard any excess. This gives a subtle aromatic rinse. Skip if you prefer a cleaner profile.
Strain and serve
Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or over fresh ice in a rocks glass, depending on preference.
Garnish
Express a lime wheel or wedge over the drink to release oils, then drop it in or rest it on the rim as garnish.
Serve immediately and enjoy. The recipe yields one cocktail; adjust proportions linearly for multiple servings.
