Base - Red Wine Blend

Sweetener & Citrus

Ice & Service

Method

Prepare Glass & Fruit

1

Chill and Garnish Prep

Place a wine or rocks glass in the freezer for 5 minutes or fill with ice water to chill while you assemble the drink. Thinly slice two orange rounds and set aside one for muddling and one for garnish. Prepare a lemon twist or wheel for final presentation.

Macerate Fruit

2

Muddle

In a mixing glass or shaker, add the orange slice reserved for muddling and the fresh blackberries (if using). Add the 0.5 tbs simple syrup and gently muddle 6–8 times to release juices and oils. Do not pulverize; just press to extract flavor.

Build the Cocktail

3

Combine Ingredients

To the muddled fruit, add 1.5 cups of the full-bodied red wine, 0.5 tbs fresh lemon juice, 0.5 tbs orange liqueur, and 2 tsp aromatic bitters. Add ice to the mixing glass or shaker (about 1 cup).

4

Stir or Briefly Shake

Gently stir for 10–15 seconds with a bar spoon to chill and dilute slightly. If you prefer a lightly aerated texture, briefly (1–2 seconds) shake in a cocktail shaker and then strain into the chilled glass. Aim for a balanced temperature without over-diluting.

Strain & Serve

5

Strain

Double-strain the mixture into the chilled glass over fresh ice if serving on the rocks, or serve neat in a wine glass without ice depending on preference. Use a fine mesh strainer to remove fruit solids if you muddled berries.

6

Garnish and Finish

Float the reserved orange slice on top or place it on the rim and add the lemon twist. Optional: drop remaining whole berries into the glass for color and texture. Serve immediately.
