    Gather all ingredients and preheat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Toast the bread slices until golden brown, and spread the butter for toast on the warm toast.

    In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until the mixture is light and uniform.

    In a skillet, melt butter for eggs over medium-low heat, coating the bottom of the pan.

    Pour the egg mixture into the skillet. Let it sit briefly, then gently stir with a spatula, pushing the cooked curds from the edges toward the center. Repeat until the eggs are softly set but still slightly runny.

    Remove from heat. The residual heat will finish cooking the eggs. Plate with the buttered toast on the side.
