Method

Directions

  1. 1

    Prep

Chill a highball glass and ensure all ingredients are at hand, including a fresh lemon for zest and a clean bar spoon.

  2. 2

    Add ice

Fill the highball glass with 1 cup of ice to about two-thirds full.

  3. 3

    Add gin

Pour 50 ml gin over the ice.

  4. 4

    Introduce juniper aroma

Add 0.5 ml juniper essence to the gin to heighten the juniper aroma.

  5. 5

    Lemon zest

Zest 0.5 tsp of lemon over the glass, then rub the zest around the rim to release oils and drop the zest into the glass.

  6. 6

    Top with tonic

Slowly pour 150 ml Indian tonic water into the glass to preserve the drink's fizz.

  7. 7

    Combine

Stir gently with a bar spoon to integrate the gin, juniper essence, zest, and tonic without over-diluting.

  8. 8

    Serve

Optionally garnish with an additional lemon twist and serve immediately.
