Crostini base

Garnish (optional)

Method

Crostini base

  1. 1

    Prepare bread and preheat

Arrange bread slices on a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

    Toast crostini

Lightly brush both sides of each bread slice with olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Bake 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway, until edges are golden and centers are crisp.

Tuna conserva topping

  1. 3

    Mix the topping

In a bowl, combine the tuna conserva with lemon juice, lemon zest, capers, parsley, and minced red onion or shallot. Season with black pepper. If the tuna is very dry, moisten with a spoonful of the oil from the can.

Assemble crostini

  1. 4

    Top crostini

Spoon a generous portion of the tuna conserva mixture onto each crostini. If desired, drizzle a tiny amount of olive oil over the tops.

Garnish and serve

  1. 5

    Garnish

Arrange crostini on a platter. Garnish with lemon wedges and parsley sprigs. Serve immediately while warm and crisp.
