Ingredients for French Dip Sandwich

Method

Directions for Preparing French Dip Sandwich

  1. 1

    Prepare the Roast

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Season the beef roast with salt, black pepper, and thyme. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the roast on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.

  2. 2

    Roast the Beef

Transfer the skillet with the seared roast to the preheated oven. Roast for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.

  3. 3

    Make the Au Jus

In the same skillet used for the roast, add sliced onions and minced garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Scrape the bottom of the skillet to deglaze, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.

  4. 4

    Prepare Horseradish Cream

In a small bowl, mix together sour cream and horseradish. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

Slice the rested roast thinly. Split the brioche buns and layer with slices of beef. Serve with a small bowl of au jus for dipping and a generous dollop of horseradish cream on the side.
