Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all ingredients and ensure that the corned beef is thinly sliced, the sauerkraut is drained, and the Gruyère cheese is grated.

Assemble the Sandwich
On two slices of rye bread, spread 2 tablespoons of Russian dressing on each slice. Layer the corned beef, sauerkraut, and Gruyère cheese evenly on one slice.

Top and Butter
Place the other slice of rye bread on top to form a sandwich. Spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on the top slice.

Flip and Finish
Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.

Serve
Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve hot with extra Russian dressing on the side if desired.
