Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the warmed milk, melted butter, and eggs. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

  2. 2

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, mix the marzipan, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined. Set aside.

  4. 4

    Shape the Bear Claws

After the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread the filling evenly over the dough, then fold it in half. Cut into strips, and shape each strip into a bear claw by making slashes with a knife on one side.

  5. 5

    Second Rise

Place the shaped bear claws on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rise again for 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bear claws for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Make the Glaze

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Drizzle over the bear claws after they have cooled slightly.
