Mix the Base
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

Add Flavor
Incorporate your chosen flavoring (such as chocolate syrup, fruit puree, or other extracts) into the mixture, adjusting to taste as desired.

Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until well chilled.

Churn the Ice Cream
Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Freeze
Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
