Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, salt, and 1 tablespoon of butter. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Combine Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 cup of flour until the mixture forms a ball. Let it cool for about 10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs

Add the 2 eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. The dough should be smooth and glossy.

  4. 4

    Prepare for Frying

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.

Frying Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe and Fry

Carefully pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to the desired length with scissors. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  3. 7

    Drain and Coat

Using a slotted spoon, remove the churros from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain. Immediately roll them in the sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.

  2. 9

    Add Chocolate

Remove the pan from heat and add 1 cup of bittersweet chocolate chips. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until smooth.

  3. 10

    Finish Sauce

Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until fully combined.
