Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Make the Hibiscus Shrub

In a medium saucepan, combine dried hibiscus flowers and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Strain the mixture into a bowl, discarding the flowers.

  2. 2

    Sweeten the Shrub

While the hibiscus tea is still warm, stir in the sugar until fully dissolved. Add the peach nectar and vanilla extract. Mix well and let cool to room temperature.

  3. 3

    Mix the Shrub Soda

In a serving glass, combine 1/4 cup of the hibiscus shrub mixture with 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Fill the glass with ice and top with 1 cup of sparkling water or soda. Stir gently to combine.

  4. 4

    Serve

Garnish with a lemon slice or fresh mint if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing housemade shrub soda!
