Preparation Steps
- 1
Preparing Hibiscus Tea
In a large saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the dried hibiscus flowers.
- 2
Steeping the Hibiscus
Reduce heat and allow the hibiscus flowers to steep in the boiling water for about 15 minutes. The water should turn a deep red color.
- 3
Straining the Tea
After steeping, remove the saucepan from heat and strain the hibiscus tea into a large pitcher, discarding the flowers.
- 4
Sweetening the Tea
While the tea is still warm, stir in the agave syrup until fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
- 5
Adding More Water
Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher to dilute the hibiscus tea to your desired strength.
- 6
Preparing Sangria Fruit
Chop the fresh fruits (oranges, lemons, limes, berries) into bite-sized pieces. Add them to the pitcher with the hibiscus tea.
- 7
Chilling the Drink
Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
- 8
Serving
When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled hibiscus refresher over the ice. Garnish with additional fruit if desired.
