Sorbet Ingredients
Method
Sorbet Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Apples
Wash the green apples thoroughly under running water. Cut each apple into quarters and remove the core and seeds.
- 2
Cook the Apples
In a medium saucepan, combine the quartered apples with 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until the apples are soft.
- 3
Blend the Mixture
Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Transfer the apple mixture to a blender. Add the granulated sugar and lemon juice. Blend until smooth and well combined.
- 4
Strain the Mixture
Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove any pulp or chunks. Use a spatula to press the mixture to extract as much liquid as possible.
- 5
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the strained mixture for at least 1 hour or until completely chilled.
- 6
Churn the Sorbet
Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually for about 20-25 minutes until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
- 7
Freeze the Sorbet
Transfer the churned sorbet into an airtight container. Cover it with a lid and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
- 8
Serve
Scoop the green apple sorbet into bowls or cones. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired, and serve immediately for a refreshing treat.
