Smoothie Base

Method

Prepare Ingredients

1

Measure

Measure and assemble all ingredients: peel the ripe banana; break frozen acai packet into pieces if solid; measure spirulina, protein, cashew butter, coconut butter, and almond milk. If coconut butter is firmly solid, warm it briefly (5–10 seconds) in the microwave to soften.

2

If you prefer a thicker smoothie bowl texture, freeze the banana in slices ahead of time and reduce almond milk to 3/4 cup during blending.

Blend

3

Combine and blend

Add almond milk to the blender first (this helps with blending), then add banana, acai puree, grass-fed whey protein, cashew butter, softened coconut butter, and blue spirulina. Add ice cubes if using. Secure the lid.

4

Blend on high for 30–60 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides if needed, until mixture is completely smooth and evenly blue with a thick, creamy consistency. If too thick, add almond milk 1–2 tbs at a time; if too thin, add a few more ice cubes or frozen banana slices and re-blend.

Taste and Adjust

5

Taste the smoothie. If you want it sweeter, add maple syrup or honey 1 tsp at a time and pulse to combine. If brightness is desired, a squeeze of lemon (about 1/2 tsp juice) can be added — optional.

Serve

6

Pour the Blue Banana smoothie into a 12–16 oz glass or bowl. Top with optional banana slices, a sprinkle of chia seeds, and shredded coconut. Serve immediately with a straw or spoon.

Storage

7

If not drinking immediately, transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate up to 24 hours. Re-stir or briefly re-blend before serving; color and texture may settle.
