Method
Toast
Preheat and prepare
Heat a skillet (cast-iron or nonstick) over medium heat. Brush both sides of the sourdough slices lightly with 1 tablespoon EVOO.
Place the bread in the hot skillet and toast until golden and crisp, about 2–3 minutes per side. Alternatively, toast in a toaster oven until edges are golden. Set toasted bread on a rack or plate.
Cream Cheese Layer
While bread toasts, spread 1 tablespoon of softened cream cheese evenly over each slice of warm toast so the heat slightly softens it and helps it adhere.
Avocado Smash
Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
Add 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, 1 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt, 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, and 1 teaspoon everything seasoning to the avocado. Mash with a fork to a chunky-but-spreadable texture. Taste and adjust salt, lemon, or red pepper flakes as desired.
Assemble & Finish
Divide the avocado smash evenly between the two cream-cheese-topped toasts and spread to cover the surface.
Drizzle about 1 teaspoon EVOO over the smashed avocado (use remaining EVOO if preferred) and dot or streak 1 teaspoon sriracha across the toasts. If you prefer a milder heat, serve sriracha on the side.
Sprinkle freshly ground black pepper and a light additional pinch of everything seasoning or red pepper flakes if desired. Top with optional microgreens or chopped chives for color and freshness.
Serve immediately so the toast remains crisp. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
