Method
Prepare Ingredients
Toast nuts (optional)
If using chopped nuts as garnish, heat a small dry skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped cashews or almonds and toast, stirring frequently, until fragrant and lightly golden, about 3–4 minutes. Transfer to a small bowl to cool.
Peel the banana. If you prefer a thicker, colder smoothie, slice and freeze the banana for at least 1–2 hours beforehand.
Blend Smoothie
If you want a touch more sweetness, add the optional maple syrup or honey.
Blend on high until completely smooth and creamy, about 45–60 seconds. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula if needed, then blend another 10–15 seconds.
Check consistency. For a thinner smoothie add 2–4 tablespoons (30–60 ml) more almond milk and pulse to combine. For a thicker texture, add 1–2 extra ice cubes or a few more frozen banana slices and blend again.
