For the Flan
Method
Making the Flan
- 1
Prepare the Caramel
In a saucepan over medium heat, add the granulated sugar. Cook until it melts and turns a golden brown color. Quickly pour the caramel into a round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

- 3
Pour and Bake
Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish. Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan filled with water to create a water bath. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 4
Cool and Serve
Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool at room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges and invert onto a serving plate.
