Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the steak

Remove the Denver steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This will help the steak cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the steak

Drizzle the olive oil over the steak and rub it in thoroughly. Sprinkle the salt, black pepper, and garlic powder evenly on both sides of the steak. If using, add the fresh rosemary and rub it into the meat. Let the steak sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  3. 3

    Preheat the grill or skillet

Preheat your grill to high heat or place a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat on the stove. Allow it to heat for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cook the steak

Once the grill or skillet is hot, place the steak on it. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, until a nice crust forms. Flip the steak and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

  6. 6

    Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the meat.
