Chicken & Waffles Ingredients
Method
Chicken & Waffles Directions
- 1
Prepare Chicken Marinade
In a bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Add the boneless chicken breasts and ensure they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for better flavor.
- 2
Prepare Waffle Batter
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk and vegetable oil. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined; do not over mix.
- 3
Cook Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade and let excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge each piece in cornstarch, ensuring an even coating. Heat a deep skillet with oil over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels.
- 4
Cook Waffles
Preheat your waffle iron. Pour an appropriate amount of batter into the hot waffle iron, close the lid, and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden brown and crispy. Repeat with remaining batter.
- 5
Prepare Smoky Butter
In a small bowl, blend the unsalted butter with a pinch of smoked paprika and a dash of black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 6
Serve
Plate the waffles, top with crispy fried chicken, and drizzle generously with maple syrup. Serve with a dollop of smoky butter on the side.
