- 1
Prepare bottle and workspace
Clean and sanitize the work surface. Ensure your hands are washed and/or wear clean food‑safe gloves. Place the empty PET bottle and screw cap on a clean tray or rack to avoid recontamination.
- 2
Sanitize bottle and cap
Pour approximately 500 ml of the food‑grade sanitizer solution into the empty bottle (use a measuring cup or dispenser). Place the cap in a small cup with sanitizer. Swirl the sanitizer inside the bottle for 15–30 seconds to wet all internal surfaces, then invert the bottle to drain sanitizer into a sink or designated drain. Remove the cap from sanitizer and allow both bottle and cap to air dry for 1–2 minutes — do not rinse with tap water after sanitizing unless the sanitizer instructions require rinsing. Discard any remaining sanitizer solution according to the product guidelines.
- 3
Fill with purified water
Using a clean dispenser or pouring vessel, fill the sanitized bottle with 355 ml purified drinking water. Pour slowly to avoid splashing; leave a small headspace (about 5–10 mm) at the top to allow for cap placement and slight expansion.
- 4
Cap and secure
Immediately place the sanitized screw cap on the bottle and tighten until snug. Do not overtighten to avoid stripping threads. Wipe the exterior of the bottle with a clean, dry single‑use towel or lint‑free cloth to remove any water droplets or fingerprints.
- 5
Finish and store
Optionally label the bottle with date/lot information if required. Place the capped bottle in chill storage or serve immediately. If chilling, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to reach serving temperature (optional). Store upright in a clean cooler or refrigerator until served.
