Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Tomato Sauce
Blanch the ripe tomatoes in boiling water for about 30 seconds, then transfer them to an ice bath to cool. Peel the skin and remove the seeds, then chop the tomatoes finely.
- 2
Prepare the Dough
Preheat your oven to the highest setting (usually around 500°F or 260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well. Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 3
Assemble the Pizza
Spread the chopped tomatoes evenly over the rolled-out dough. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute it over the tomato layer. Scatter fresh basil leaves on top.
- 4
Bake the Pizza
Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over the top and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 5
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, slice, and serve hot. Enjoy your Margherita pizza!
