Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mushrooms

Gently wipe the cremini and button mushrooms with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Avoid rinsing them under water as they can absorb moisture.

  2. 2

    Slice the Mushrooms

Slice the cleaned mushrooms into thick slices, about 1/4 inch thick, to ensure they hold their texture during cooking.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Garlic and Parsley

Mince the garlic cloves finely. Chop the fresh parsley leaves, discarding the stems.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat until it shimmers.

  2. 5

    Sauté the Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant but not browned.

  3. 6

    Cook the Mushrooms

Add the sliced cremini and button mushrooms to the skillet. Stir well to coat them with the garlic and oil. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and have released their juices.

  4. 7

    Season the Mixture

Add salt and black pepper to taste, and continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the mushrooms are nicely browned.

  5. 8

    Add Parsley

Stir in the chopped parsley and cook for another minute to combine the flavors.

  6. 9

    Serve

Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the mushrooms to a serving dish. Serve warm as a side dish or as a topping for bruschetta.
