Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the rib eye steak from the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before grilling. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the rib eye steak with olive oil. Then, sprinkle kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder evenly on both sides of the steak. Massage the seasoning into the meat for enhanced flavor.

Grilling

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (approximately 450°F to 500°F). This will create a nice sear on the steak.

  2. 4

    Grill the Steak

Place the seasoned rib eye steak on the hot grill. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on one side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Flip the steak and grill for another 4-5 minutes.

  3. 5

    Check the Temperature

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the steak. For medium-rare, it should be around 135°F. Adjust cooking time as needed for your preferred doneness.

  4. 6

    Rest the Steak

Once done, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Steak

Slice the rib eye steak against the grain and serve with your choice of sides, such as grilled asparagus, mashed potatoes, or steamed broccoli.
