Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, fill with water and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.

Cook Spaghetti
Once the water is boiling, add the spaghetti. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain and Set Aside
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Making the Marinara Sauce

Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Add Tomatoes
Pour in the canned whole tomatoes, including their juices. Crush the tomatoes with a wooden spoon to break them up.

Season the Sauce
Stir in dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add Fresh Basil
Just before serving, stir in the chopped fresh basil for added flavor.
Combining Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the marinara sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly in the sauce.
