Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

Fill a large pot with water, add a pinch of salt, and bring it to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pasta

Once the water is boiling, add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

When the pasta is cooked, reserve a cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander.

Tossing the Pasta

  1. 4

    Prepare the Sauce

In the same pot or a large skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

  2. 5

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic oil. Toss the pasta well to coat it in the oil.

  3. 6

    Adjust Seasoning

If the pasta seems dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) to taste.

  4. 7

    Add Fresh Ingredients

Remove the skillet from heat and add the chopped fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese. Toss everything together until well mixed.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate the Pasta

Serve the pasta immediately on plates or in bowls, garnishing with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
