Method

Prepare Meatballs

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.

Make Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, black pepper, sugar, and basil. Bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assemble Subs

  1. 6

    Prepare Hoagie Rolls

Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise, taking care not to cut all the way through.

  2. 7

    Fill with Meatballs and Sauce

Place 3-4 meatballs inside each hoagie roll and spoon marinara sauce over the top.

  3. 8

    Add Cheese and Bake

Top each filled hoagie with 2 slices of provolone cheese. Place the assembled subs on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
