Method

Preparation of Meat Sauce

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.

  2. 2

    Brown the Meat

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces with a spoon.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Preparation of Cheese Mixture

  1. 4

    Mix Cheese Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. 6

    Layering the Lasagna

In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place three lasagna sheets on top, then spread a third of the cheese mixture and a third of the meat sauce. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with meat sauce on top.

  3. 7

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and remaining grated Parmesan cheese over the top layer of meat sauce.

Baking

  1. 8

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  2. 9

    Rest and Serve

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
