Preparation of Meat Sauce

Cook the Beef
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.

Brown the Meat
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces with a spoon.

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Mix Cheese Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Assembly

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

Layering the Lasagna
In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place three lasagna sheets on top, then spread a third of the cheese mixture and a third of the meat sauce. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with meat sauce on top.

Add Toppings
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and remaining grated Parmesan cheese over the top layer of meat sauce.
Baking

Bake the Lasagna
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Rest and Serve
Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
