Barrel Aged Espresso
Method
Preparation
- 1
Aging the Bourbon
Place your bourbon in a clean, sterilized barrel. Allow it to age for at least 2 weeks, preferably up to 4 weeks, to infuse the bourbon with complex flavors.
- 2
Prepare the Espresso
Brew a shot of high-quality Italian espresso using your preferred method. Ensure it is fresh and hot.
- 3
Mixing the Cocktail
In a mixing glass, combine the aged bourbon, fresh espresso, simple syrup, and orange bitters. Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled.
- 4
Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into a chilled glass over fresh ice cubes. Garnish with an orange twist by twisting the peel over the drink to release the oils, then place it in the drink.
